New aerial images show work is well underway on Cameron House renovations

Work is well underway on the renovation of Cameron House as new photos taken by Turkey Red Media show.

The five-star complex is being restored following a devastating fire in December 2017 which killed Simon Midgley, 32, and Richard Dyson, 38, and saw the evacuation of hundreds of people.

A Crown Office investigation into their deaths is now in its third year, with repeated calls being made by local politicians for answers.

However work on a £17.5million extension got underway last month which, when completed, will feature a ballroom suitable for weddings or dinners with capacity for 350 guests, as well as a large outdoor terrace on the lower ground floor.

It will also have 68 new bedrooms on the upper three floors, the majority of which will feature large balconies with loch-facing views.

Dumbarton MSP Jackie Baillie has welcomed the redevelopment of the hotel but said families of the two men who died are still left waiting for answers.

Earlier this year the Lennox Herald told how the politician has been in contact with Jane Midgley, the mother of Simon, who is distraught by the lack of information over how her son died.

She said she is unable to properly grieve for her tragic son as she enters the third year without answers.
