New Aer Lingus air fare guarantees free middle seat

Ireland-based airline, Aer Lingus has announced a new fare that will guarantee passengers a free middle seat.

Called AerSpace, the fare will create a new ‘premium travel’ experience for short haul guests and will comment on September 1 this year.

The fare starts from €129 each-way (regular fares start from €32.99 each-way) and will be available for select destinations across the UK and Europe flying from Aer Lingus' three UK bases - London Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester airport.

By choosing an AerSpace fare, this means you’ll be guaranteed an aisle or a window seat in the first row of the aircraft and the middle seat will be left unoccupied. The fare also includes guaranteed cabin space directly overhead, complimentary lounge access, complimentary check in of a 20kg bag, fast track security, priority boarding and on-board refreshments from the Aer Lingus’ on board menu.

Susanne Carberry, Director of Network Revenue and Loyalty, Aer Lingus, said in a statement: “We are proud to launch AerSpace in response to feedback from our guests seeking a more premium and spacious travel experience when flying short haul with Aer Lingus.”

While the price for the new AerSpace fare is considerably higher than a regular airfare, the added perks and wiggle room could make it worth it.
