Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith has said people in the ACT who have returned from Victoria must check if they are required to quarantine.
"The most important message to Canberrans at this point of time is if you have recently been in Victoria please go on to the Victoria Health website and check the sites that have been identified as potential exposure sites," she told ABC Radio Canberra on Thursday.
"If you have been to one of those sites you need to isolate immediately, get a test and contact ACT Health.
"Victoria Health will obviously also be doing contact tracing but they may not get to you before you identify that you've been in one of those places.
"If you know anyone who has recently travelled in Victoria please check all of that information on the Victoria Health website."
Restrictions tightened overnight in Victoria after a hotel quarantine worker tested positive for the virus.
From 11.59pm on Wednesday, Victorians must wear masks in public indoor spaces except when eating or drinking. Masks are recommended but not mandatory for house visits.
Household gatherings have returned to a limit of 15 people plus household members, excluding children under 12 months.
It is unknown if the worker is carrying the new and more infectious strain of the virus.
