Resurfacing works will see a stretch of road in East Ayrshire closed every day this week.
Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA) are carrying out the project, which started today, on the A735.
The route will be closed from 9am to 4pm between Lochlibo Road and U29 Halket.
And ARA bosses have described the work required in the area as "essential".
The temporary closure notice has taken effect and will remain in place until Friday, January 22.
Work was scheduled to be carried out on another stretch of the A735, between Kilmaurs and the North Ayrshire boundary, last week.
