A new 24/7 convenience shop has opened at Sneinton Market - and it's the early hours that are proving to be the busiest. Stop n Shop is located in one of the avenues, where it joins other businesses such as brewery Neon Raptor, Vietnamese cafe Boulangerie de Saigon and Luisa's Vegan Chocolates.
Soft drinks, alcohol, groceries, confectionary and crisps are on sale at the corner of Avenue D. Health and beauty items, pet food and vapes also fill the shelves.
Bally Dhillon, who has been helping the owner set up the shop, said: "There's not a 24-hour shop around here. There's a definite demand. We've got a massive student population around here - 400 students that way, 200 students that way. A lot of the shops around here close at 10pm so that's why we thought a convenience store would be great

"We are still new and have a lot more to stock. We are offering a range of fresh items as well and just generally making sure we have a range of products for everyone as we have quite a diverse community around here - students, the Oriental community, the Caribbean community and Indian community are all around here. It's a late-night hub for everyone."
The door closes at 11pm and service switches to a night-hatch. The shelves are filled with items such as cereals, nappies, dog food and potatoes but at peak times it's drinks and snacks that are most in demand.
"Between 12am and 4am is the busiest time. There's a massive demand for late night shopping. Alcohol, a lot of snacks, there's a lot of that.

"We are offering value late at night. We are not upping our prices - a lot of other convenience stores, the prices go up at night. We keep our prices the same. We want to make it as competitive as possible. We are similar to supermarket prices which is quite difficult for a small independent shop. We are not trying to rip people off," said Bally.
"We're getting a Tango Ice Blast machine too. We are going to start stocking natural wines and a vegan range - there's a massive vegan community around here, craft beers and international beers as well, and spices - things you wouldn't normally find in a 24-hour convenience store.
"We focus on customer service as well, making sure we talk to all our customers and that everyone is happy - your old-school community shop is what we want to be."
Soon customers won't have to leave their homes to shop as the business will be launching around-the-clock delivery from the shop, which was previously an empty unit. "Sneinton is up and coming. There's a lot of things happening at Sneinton Market. Weekends are super busy around here," said Bally.
