Neville Southall has called on the Everton board to back Frank Lampard - both by keeping him in the job and supporting him in the January transfer market.

Pressure on Lampard intensified significantly following Tuesday evening's dismal 4-1 defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. The Toffees went into the break 1-0 down and still in the game despite a poor half, but a complete collapse saw three goals conceded in six second-half minutes.

Boos and chants of 'sack the board' engulfed a furious Goodison Park, with many fans leaving for the exits early. The Everton players stayed on the pitch to clap the fans but were met with palpable anger from those who stayed until the end.
