Neville Southall sends blunt Everton relegation message ahead of crucial Bournemouth clash

Former Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall is refusing to talk about anything but his old club staying up this afternoon.

The Blues welcome Bournemouth to Goodison Park knowing that a win would secure their place in next season’s Premier League. However, anything but three points, and Sean Dyche’s side would give both Leicester City and Leeds United the chance to survive.

It is the second consecutive season in which Everton find themselves battling to avoid the drop. Last term, they survived after coming from behind to beat Crystal Palace at Goodison in the penultimate game of their campaign.

Taking to Twitter ahead of today's match, Southall said: “We will stay up. Not interested in thinking anything else.”

Speaking on Friday afternoon, Blues boss Dyche said: "Performances win you football matches, not positivity.

"I have been confident going into every game and clear on performances. We will speak about our values and how we want to approach the game. We have to remember the good work done."

And when asked about the pressure of the final game, Dyche replied: "Players should expect to be under pressure for every game given the stature of the club, it is Everton Football Club. That is the demand. Every game should be under pressure.”
