Neverness to Everness bonding guide: How it works

Neverness to Everness isn’t just about fighting and capturing supernatural entities and cruising around in an urban open world, GTA-style. There are opportunities to interact with your fellow companions outside missions and build intimate relationships with them, both romantic and platonic.

​NTE hides a series of mechanics behind its bonding system. While it’s available from the get-go, it’s not as simple as just sending a text and inviting a companion for a ride-along or a date. Here’s how bonding works in Neverness to Everness.

​How to bond with companions in Neverness to Everness

In NTE, before you can hang out and increase your bond with a companion, you have to increase their affection level. Every companion has a 10-tier affection level, with each unlocking different levels of interactions. For instance, at level 2 affinity, you can start inviting them for car rides around the city. Likewise, at level 6 affinity, you can ask them to hug you. 

There are titles assigned to certain bond levels as well. For instance, your companion will become a “familiar” and a ” close friend” at bond levels 4 and 6, respectively.

It’s worth noting that not every bonding activity is available for each companion, especially from the get-go. In CBT 3, more intimate activities such as holding hands and hugging were limited to female companions. Hotta Studio has since then confirmed that bonding will be available for the entire launch roster.

​The bright side is that you can walk around some of the most eye-popping locations in Hethereau while holding hands with a companion of your choosing, living the shoujo anime dream in the process. While on a stroll, you can also talk and ask straightforward questions about their favourite hobbies and food, or take a more flirty approach by asking them about their feelings.

​As for raising affection, you can do so by giving gifts. Every companion has their own preferences, and the daily gift limit for each companion is ten. Some of the easiest ways to get gift items are through shops and vending machines, though there have to be more ways to obtain them in the full game.

Once you have raised your bond enough, you can invite companions to move into one of your apartments. This feature is called Home Time.  Each companion has an exclusive home attire, and they will roam around your apartment wearing those.

So far, the bonding activities for the apartment include: 

  • Stroll
  • Sleep
  • Sit on the chair
  • Sit on the sofa
  • Selfie
  • Warm up 
  • Play in pool
  • Sit on ground
  • Crouch
  • Stretch
  • Finger heart
  • Ear care
  • Take a photo together
  • Sit back to back
  • Hug 
  • Care spray
  • Rock paper scissors

To make things more immersive, Hotta Studio is bringing a first-person mode to NTE. You can switch to this perspective during any activity in the game, including dates and interactions at home with your companions.
