'Never thought I would see the day' - The amazing stat behind Chelsea's start to the season

Frank Lampard and Chelsea made it two wins, two draws and a defeat from their first five games of the season after victory over Wolves on Saturday.

It was a thumping victory too, with the Blues running riot at Molineux, winning by five goals to two.

The match was effectively over by half-time, with Chelsea 3-0 up thanks to goals from Fikayo Tomori and a double from Tammy Abraham.

Abraham notched his hat-trick after the break, and while Wolves battled back to score twice, Mason Mount put the icing on the cake in injury-time.

The five goals took Chelsea's tally to 11 for the season and will have delighted head coach Lampard, after his side threw away a two-goal lead against Sheffield United before the international break.

Supporters at Stamford Bridge may have expected more points by this stage of the season, but it is a learning curve for Lampard, and without being able to sign players in the summer transfer window, patience is required from some of the young players that he has bedded in.

However, it is the young English talent in west London that are showing the way for the rest of the team.

The latest on Chelsea's injuries and Hudson-Odoi's possible return

That is because there is an incredible stat that is behind the Blues' start to the season, and that is that all of their 11 goals have been scored by Englishmen.

Not only that, but they have been scored by Englishmen under the age of 22.

It is a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the supporters at Stamford Bridge.

And as you can see from the reaction, it is something that some fans never thought they would see, after the days of investing heavily in foreign players under Roman Abramovich.
