'Never make it easy do we': Here's how Newcastle United fans reacted to the nervy victory at West Ham

Newcastle United survived a late onslaught in the capital to come away with all three points at West Ham United.

The rampant Magpies tore through the Hammers in the first half and quickly earned a two-goal advantage courtesy of headers from Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez.

United should have been further ahead by the break with Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron spurning presentable opportunities, and Jonjo Shelvey's effort striking the bar.

The former England international added a third quickly after the break with a free-kick from distance, and it looked as if the Magpies had wrapped up a comfortable victory.

But Fabian Balbuena pulled one back for Manuel Pellegrini's side from a corner, and Robert Snodgrass' sweetly-struck effort ensured it was a nervy finish for United in injury time.

The victory lifted United into 15th position in the Premier League table - four points clear of the relegation zone.

Bruce's side described November as a "critical part of the season", and the Magpies next face Bournemouth at St James' Park.

United secured the victory on Saturday afternoon, but the late goals ensured it was a tense finish for supporters.
