'Never feared' - Birmingham City boss issues damning Nottingham Forest verdict

Birmingham City head coach Pep Clotet delivered his verdict on the 2-1 defeat of Nottingham Forest today and reserved praise for debutant goalscorer Scott Hogan while adding he never thought his side looked like relinquishing their lead.

Hogan scored his side's equaliser, grabbing a crucial goal to swing the momentum Blues' way after the Reds had gone ahead and seen a Lewis Grabban penalty saved by Lee Camp.

Blues , Kristian Pedersen scoring with just over a quarter-of-an-hour left on the clock to hand Clotet a big win.

Hogan, signed on loan from Aston Villa last month after a failed loan spell at Stoke City, is hoping to resurrect his Championship career.

And he got off to the perfect start when he bundled home three minutes from time to equalise, lifting the lid off a frustrated St Andrew's who had seen Forest dominate the opening exchanges.

Clotet knows there is a player on Hogan - and added that he never feared the win was under threat as the game drew to a close and Forest tried, in vain, to score an equaliser.

“We were very demanding on Scott,” he said.

“I think he can build a very good partnership with Jutkiewicz.

"He is a positive threat to the backline and with more games we are going to learn new ways to find him and make him more dangerous.

"At the same time I see him very committed to the club, to what we are building to the end of the season and we have got to help him to be the player I have in my mind that he can be.

“Our fans are magnificent because they value hard work and commitment to the club  - that’s what every player in this locker room has.

“Scott understood that and he had it and he gave it to the fans and to the team - that for us is a demand in the locker room.

“I never feared for the result and I think all the players who came in, all the subs they understood the game very well and it was very comfortable defending until the end which for us is a massive game because it’s been difficult for our supporters to see us win at home lately despite us being on an unbeaten run.

“The fact that I heard the fans singing Keep Right On five minutes until the end all the way through was a massive lift and that victory is for the players and them.”
