Nevada QB Carson Strong entering 2022 NFL draft

Nevada’s Carson Strong is foregoing his senior season to enter the 2022 NFL draft, the quarterback prospect announced Tuesday.

Strong (6-4, 215 pounds) had a productive season with the Wolf Pack in 2021, completing 70.2% of his passes for 4,186 yards with 36 touchdown passes against just eight interceptions.

Nevada went 7-2 this season and the school will finish out the year against Western Michigan in the Quick Lane Bowl on Dec. 27. That game will mark Strong’s final college appearance before the QB turns his attention toward preparing for the NFL draft.

Draft Wire’s recent three-round NFL mock draft has the Denver Broncos selecting Strong in the second round next April. Broncos general manager George Paton has already scouted Strong — and four other QB prospects — in person this year.

Paton attended the CSU-Nevada game last month and he watched Strong complete 17-of-22 passes for 288 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in a 52-10 blowout win.

Denver currently has 11 picks to use in next year’s draft, including five selections in the first three rounds.
