Four UFC event applications have been approved by the Nevada Athletic Commission for the month of April.
The NAC’s monthly meeting was held Tuesday via conference call with all five commissioners present. The governing body swiftly granted approval for events on April 10, April 17, and April 24 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
The event license approvals don’t mean the UFC will certainly hold events at the UFC Apex, as exemplified by UFC 261 on April 24. On Monday, UFC president Dana White announced UFC 261 will happen at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., without capacity limits on the crowd.
Various fights have been revealed for the April stretch:
- April 10, UFC on ABC 2, takes place at matinee time in the U.S. In the main event, middleweight contenders Darren Till and Marvin Vettori are expected to square off.
- April 17, a UFC Fight Night event, is in need of a new main event. With Paulo Costa ill, former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker needs a new opponent.
- April 24, UFC 261, is expected to take place in Jacksonville, Fla., but the UFC still has an event license for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view features three title fights, including UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal, UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko vs. Jessica Andrade, and UFC women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili vs. Rose Namajunas.
