Network Rail video of shocking drunken fails shows man fall beneath moving train

Network Rail has shared astonishing clips of drunken falls at railway stations - including one of a man who disappeared beneath a moving train.

The rail company shared the sobering montage on social media on Wednesday evening (December 1) as the Christmas season gets under way.

It wants the videos to serve as an important safety reminder to anyone planning on getting the train home after becoming intoxicated.

The shocking 'opening scene' shows a man ambling along a platform before falling against the carriage of a train as it departs.

He stumbles forward as he begins to lose balance before falling and rolling down the gap, landing next to the tracks where the train is moving.

Another clip shows someone who appears to chase and then unsuccessfully try to kick a pigeon. The force of the movement sends them stumbling forwards beyond the platform and again landing on the tracks.

In another eye-opening moment caught on camera, a man tries to use the upwards escalator but gets stuck and rolls backward in dramatic fashion, tumbling backwards again and again down the steps before someone hits the emergency stop button.

The final clip shows someone staggering backwards across the tracks at a station before tripping over and landing sprawled across them.

Network Rail tweeted the montage with the caption: "It’s December and as Christmas drinks and parties return, we look back on some footage of shocking incidents caused by intoxication.

"If you’re heading out for a few drinks, please remember to take care on and around the railway."

Summarising the response, one person tweeted back: "Funny but definitely not funny."

Network Rail did not specify exactly when or where the incidents filmed took place, but the initial clip is at least eight years old. It was used in 2013 during a similar safety campaign, when the location was reported as Manchester Piccadilly station.
