Nets coach holds up college football-style play card during game

Play cards featuring pictures of celebrities or emojis or logos have become a staple in college football, and Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson is bringing the signs to NBA sidelines.

During Friday night’s Rockets-Nets game in Brooklyn, Atkinson held up a sign featuring a photo of former NBA player Dennis Scott with a cross out symbol over him, mystifying NBA fans.

Atkinson said after the game that he used the card to help communicate to the players to shift into a specific defensive coverage.
