Netherlands rescue dramatic draw against Germany to pip France to Uefa Nations League semi-finals spot

Netherlands have joined England, Portugal and Switzerland in the Uefa Nations League semi-finals.

The Dutch needed just a point against Germany in their final group game this evening with a 2-2 draw at the Veltins-Arena securing their place in the final four.

The draw ensured they top League A Group 1 at the expense of France, who needed a Germany win to reach the final four.

The visitors found themselves two goals behind inside 20 minutes after goals from Timo Werner and Leroy Sane and struggled to find a way back into the contest until the final 10 minutes.

Quincy Promes punished the hosts for trying to overplay things out from the back, beating Neuer with a superb curling effort.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk was his country’s hero, volleying home from close range to secure the point his country needed in injury time.

England secured their place in next summer’s finals with a 2-1 victory over Croatia on Sunday, with Jesse Lingard and Harry Kane scoring in the final 12 minutes to seal victory.

Portugal topped League A Group 3 ahead of Italy and Poland to book their place, with Switzerland coming from two goals behind to beat Belgium in spectacular fashion on Sunday.

The result sees Netherlands join England, Portugal and Switzerland in the Nations League semi-finals to be played next June.
