Netflix users losing access to top shows as Disney+ takes back rights

UK Netflix users are losing access to a number of the most popular shows as Disney+ takes back exclusive rights.

Shows disappearing from the streaming service include Modern Family - which experts say was the most streamed in Europe in 2020.

Netflix is also losing How I Met Your Mother and Sons of Anarchy as well as Prison Break and New Girl, reports The Guardian.

They will only be available to stream for Disney+ subscribers.

Homeland is expected to follow soon according to research firm Digital i.

Netflix is expected to spend more than $17bn on content this year.

It hopes to attract an audience with new content including Ryan Reynolds sci-fi film The Adam Project and the return of Bridgerton and Stranger Things.

Netflix is the most popular streaming service in the UK, with an estimated 14 million subscribers.
