Netflix UK: the best shows launching this month - from Ozark to Too Hot to Handle

Netflix is a life-saver in Winter - when it's too cold and wet to go outside and the dark nights seem to be getting earlier and earlier. So if all you want to do is binge your favourite shows on the sofa, wrapped in every blanket you own, you've come to the right place.

But if you've finished Emily in Paris, raced through the last season of You, and couldn't really get into The Witcher - don't worry. We've got you sorted.

So without further ado, here are the best Netflix UK shows launching this month.

1. Ozark - Season 4

The latest and final season of Ozark will be split into two parts - each consisting of seven episodes, with part one launching on January 21 .

The series, which first debuted back in 2017, features Emmy Award-winning actors including Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. It "follows the Byrde family’s journey from their normal, suburban Chicago life to their dangerous criminal enterprise in the Ozarks, Missouri".

Fans have already started predicted some disturbing twists and shock deaths in the upcoming season - after a teaser announced "no ending is reached by accident".

2. Too Hot to Handle - Season 3

While the UK faces freezing temperatures and threats of snow - things on Netflix are getting a little hot and steamy...

The third season of Too Hot to Handle will return to the streaming giant on January 19th, welcoming a new group of "horned-up hell-raisers who have just arrived for what they think will be the sexiest vacation of their lives". However, if you haven't watched the show before - there's a little twist.

Too Hot to Handle is hosted by Lana - a virtual assistant who keeps a close eye on contestants to make sure they follow the rules - no kissing, sexual contact or self-gratification. If they break the rules, the grand prize of $100,000 goes down.

3. Cheer - Season 2

The Emmy-winning breakout series is back - but unexpected events threaten the camaraderie of the team (Netflix/Youtube)

If you haven't watched season 1 of Cheer - there is still time. Trust us, you will love it (and also convince yourself that you could be an award-winning cheerleader without any experience whatsoever).

The second instalment of the Emmy-winning breakout series will return to screens on January 12 - with the stakes higher than ever, as the Navarro Cheer team goes against their biggest rivals at Trinity Valley Community.

However, according to Netflix, "unexpected events threaten the camaraderie of the team and the season itself".

4. Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness

We all fell in love with Jonathan Van Ness while binge-watching Queer Eye (by the way, Season 6 is now out) - but the American hairdresser is going solo in their new Netflix show.

Getting Curious launches on January 28th and is described as an "unabashedly smart and quirky exploration into topics and questions that make Jonathan curious" ranging from skyscrapers to bugs to gender identity.

Jonathan, aka JVN, will be accompanied by experts in various fields throughout the series to "unabashedly smart and quirky exploration into topics and questions that make Jonathan curious".

5. The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window

Anna discovers a gruesome murder - or does she? (COLLEEN E. HAYES/NETFLIX)

Ok, we know it's a pretty long title - but The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is bound to be a Netflix-hit. The new series, which launches on January 28th, features Kristen Bell, Tom Riley and Samsara Yett.

It follows the story of Anna - who lives a pretty mundane life until her handsome neighbour moves across the street. However, just as Anna feels optimistic about life - she witnesses a gruesome murder. Or does she?

According to Netflix: "The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is a darkly comedic, wine-soaked, satirical slant on the psychological thriller that will have you guessing who, what, where, why and how in the hell?! until the very end"

6. All of Us Are Dead

A zombie invasion hits a school in the upcoming series All of us are Dead (Yang Hae-sung/Netflix)

Okay, so the title might not be the chirpiest, but All of Us Dead is the perfect show for zombie lovers. Think Walking Dead, but set in school.

The new season premiers on Netflix on January 28th. It follows a group of students trapped in a high school and find "themselves in dire situations as they seek to be rescued from a zombie invasion of their school".

There's not much information about this show just yet - but keep your eye out - it could be the thriller you need to scare the January blues out of you.
