Netflix top 10 shows — here's the 3 worth watching right now

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in "Wednesday" season 2 on Netflix.

Netflix is always releasing new shows and movies, and while that's an obvious plus for the streaming service, it can make choosing your next watch quite the task.

You can always turn to the Netflix top 10 list for help, but you can't necessarily trust that what's trending will be worth a watch.

That's precisely why I keep such a close eye on the Netflix charts and highlight the top shows you shouldn't skip that have risen through the ranks.

At present, whittling those choices down is no easy task, as the Netflix top 10 is home to a range of great shows. But as we only like to share a handful of recommendations, I've narrowed down that top 10 list to just three choices.

Right now, I'd stream a romantic comedy anthology show that originally aired on HBO Max, a recently released mystery thriller, and, of course, "Wednesday" season 2.

This article is based on what was in the Netflix U.S. Top 10 as of Tuesday, August 12.

Best shows in the Netflix top 10 right now

'Love Life'

If you've not seen Sam Boyd's HBO Max original romantic comedy series "Love Life" before, this is a show I'm convinced you'll fall in love with.

"Love Life" is an anthology show that ran for two seasons between 2020 and 2021. Each season follows a different person — first Darby (Anna Kendrick), then Marcus (William Jackson Harper) — as they navigate the highs and lows of, unsurprisingly, their love lives. From their first until their last romance, charting how those relationships help shape us.

It's a charming watch, one which I've been a longtime fan of, and one which I'm glad to see still in the top 10. Hopefully this means plenty more people are stumbling onto "Love Life", it's absolutely worth watching.

'The Hunting Wives'

"The Hunting Wives" is Netflix's newest soapy drama that feels purpose-built for compulsive binge-watching. Based on May Cobb's bestselling novel, "The Hunting Wives" follows liberal-leaning mom Sophie (Brittany Snow), who makes the move from Boston to Texas.

There, she falls in with wealthy socialite, Margo Banks (Malin Akerman) and her exclusive clique (the "Hunting Wives), a group of housewives with dangerous secrets.

And while it starts out fun, her involvement lands Sophie in hot water, as she becomes a prime suspect in the death of a teenage girl.

'Wednesday'

After nearly three entire years, Netflix's biggest-ever series is back for "Wednesday" season 2 — and the show has rocketed straight to the No. 1 spot.

Yes, Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) and the rest of her classmates (plus plenty of new faces) have returned to Nevermore Academy for a darker, deadlier season of this smash-hit dark comedy/mystery series. In her second year of school, Wednesday's got to navigate family, friendships, plus old and new adversaries alike as she's plunged into yet another mystery.

Part 1 is available to stream now, with the remaining episodes due to stream in a few weeks (check out the "Wednesday" season 2 release schedule to plan your viewing).
