Netflix top 10 shows — here’s the 3 I would binge-watch this week

Toni Collette as Evelyn Wade in "Wayward".

Netflix’s top 10 chart is constantly changing, with new releases climbing the ranks and surprise hits making their way back into the spotlight. It’s a solid place to start when you’re hunting for your next binge, but as any Netflix user knows, not every trending show is actually worth your time.

That’s where this list comes in. Each week, we cut through the noise to spotlight the three Netflix shows that truly stand out. While “House of Guinness” and “Black Rabbit” have dominated the charts for a while now, this time we’re focusing on a few fresh titles that deserve just as much attention.

This week’s picks range from a sci-fi action series based on the “Halo” video game franchise, a heartwarming drama involving time travel, and a chilling psychological thriller. This list is based on the Netflix top 10 U.S shows as of Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

Best shows in the Netflix top 10

‘Halo’

Based on the iconic Xbox video game franchise, “Halo” brings the war between humanity and the alien Covenant to life in a visually ambitious sci-fi series. Originally released in 2022, the show ran for two seasons on Paramount Plus before being canceled. However, it’s found new life on Netflix, where it’s already attracting a fresh wave of viewers discovering Master Chief’s story for the first time.

Set in the 26th century, “Halo” follows the epic conflict between humanity and a powerful alien alliance known as the Covenant. At the center of the story is Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber), a genetically enhanced supersoldier known as a Spartan, who leads humanity’s defense against the alien threat. When he encounters a mysterious artifact connected to both the Covenant and his own past, Master Chief begins to question everything he knows about his mission and origins.

‘The Way Home’

Anyone looking for a compelling drama will probably enjoy “The Way Home,” especially since it involves time travel. Originally a Hallmark original, the series seems like it's an enjoyable family-friendly drama likely to engage younger teens and adults alike.

“The Way Home” follows three generations of the Landry women — Del (Andie MacDowell), Kat (Chyler Leigh), and Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) — who live in a small Canadian town. When Kat returns home after years away, tensions rise as she tries to rebuild her relationship with her mother and daughter. Everything changes when Alice stumbles upon a mysterious pond that sends her decades into the past, where she meets a younger version of her family.

‘Wayward’

Perfect for anyone seeking something a little creepier in the lead-up to Halloween, “Wayward” is packed with mystery, suspense, and plenty of twists to keep you guessing until the end. The eerie setting of Tall Pines and the unsettling secrets of the academy make it a binge-worthy choice for viewers who like their dramas dark and gripping.

“Wayward” follows Alex Dempsey (Mae Martin), a police officer who relocates to Tall Pines with their pregnant wife, Laura. Upon arrival, Alex uncovers unsettling truths about the local institution, Tall Pines Academy, a school for troubled teens led by the charismatic and secretive Evelyn Wade (Toni Collette).
