Netflix to release a new original that could be the weirdest film of the year

A hand searching to be reunited with it's body sounds like one unique premise for this award-winning new animated film that is heading to Netflix.

The trailer for the French animated film looks positively gorgeous but its bizarre premise will be what hooks audience sin.

The English-language dub of the film features the voice talents of Dev Patel, Alia Shawkat, and George Wendt.

The Netflix description reads: "In a Parisian laboratory, a severed hand escapes its unhappy fate and sets out to reconnect with its body.

"During a hair-raising escapade across the city, the extremity fends off pigeons and rats alike to reunite with pizza boy Naoufel. Its memories of Naoufel and his love for librarian Gabrielle may provide answers about what caused the hand's separation, and a poetic backdrop for a possible reunion between the three."

Sounds utterly bizarre but also rather amazing!

I Lost My Body (Netflix)

Critics and juries at Cannes Film Festival 2019 certainly agreed, where it won the Nespresso Grand Prize at the International Critics' Week - the first animated film to do so.

It's a busy week of releases for the streaming giant this coming weekend, however, as Netflix releases all-star Christmas movie Klaus and psychological mystery Earthquake Bird starring Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander, but also releases the much-anticipated third season of its award-winning royal drama The Crown.

What will you be watching this weekend?

I Lost My Body is released on Netflix UK on November 29, 2019, but is released in limited UK cinemas on November 22, 2019.
