Netflix price rise: Find out how much your bill is rising with latest changes

Online streaming provider Netflix has announced it's putting prices up for millions of customers.

The website's standard plan, which lets you watch two screens at a time, will cost £8.99 a month under the changes, marking a 12.5% rise from its current monthly fee of £7.99.

Netflix's premium plan, meanwhile, which allows subscribers to view programmes on four different screens simultaneously and watch in HD and Ultra HD where available, will jump from £9.99 to £11.99.

New customers will see the rise kick in on 29 June - once their free trial ends. All other customers affected will see their bills rise after 30 May - usually within 30 days.

The network's basic package, which costs £5.99 a month and lets you watch on one screen at a time without an HD option, will remain unchanged.

The changes follow the last increase in October 2017, when standard membership prices jumped by 50p and premium by £1.

A Netflix statement said: "We change our prices from time to time to reflect the significant investments we’ve made in new TV shows and films, as well as  improvements to our product.

"We have more than 50 productions planned in the UK this year, including new seasons of Black Mirror, Sex Education and After Life.

"Our basic membership will remain at the same price, ensuring as many people as possible can enjoy our content."
