Netflix The Crown stars spotted in Scottish town as filming begins on new season

Cast and production crew members of the Netflix hit show The Crown have been spotted in a nearby Scottish town during filming for the sixth season.

St Andrews, Fife, attracted dozens of film crew and actors on Tuesday as the area is set to play homage to a story line detailing how Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton met each other for the first time.

The meeting of the pair came at St Andrews University where they lived together in student housing before starting their relationship which would see the couple eventually married with three children.

As the Record reports, Meg Bellamy, who is playing Kate in the show, has also been seen filming scenes around the busy tourist destination, with pictures capturing her in jeans, a white shirt and blue jacket, sitting in the window of the pub Molly Malones and leaving carrying books.

William and Kate graduated in 2005 and briefly split up in 2007, before rekindling their romance and getting engaged in 2010. William and Kate tied the knot in 2011, and have since welcomed their three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West will reprise their roles as Diana, Princess of Wales, and the then-Prince Charles, with Imelda Staunton continuing as Queen Elizabeth II and Jonathan Pryce as the late Duke of Edinburgh.

The controversial Netflix series focussed on Charles and Diana's marriage breakdown during the fifth season, including the phone-hacking scandal and the late Princess' infamous BBC Panorama interview.

Several roads in and around St Andrews have been closed as filming continues to take place over the next few days in the area.

It's been reported that Prince Harry's Nazi uniform scandal will also feature in the new season of the hit show. In January 2005, the Duke of Sussex attended a friend's fancy dress-themed birthday party in a Nazi uniform, complete with swastika armband.

Discussing the incident in his Netflix series, Harry said that wearing the costume was "probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life". An insider told The Sun that the party, which had a "natives and colonials" theme, will play out in the historical drama series.

In his book Spare, Harry claimed that William and Kate had encouraged him to wear the costume and "howled" with laughter at the suggestion.
