Netflix show The Crown looking for actors to play Prince Harry as well as extras for new series

Netflix is searching for an actor to play a young Prince Harry in the new series of The Crown - and extras are also being sought.

The appeal for someone to play the young Prince was posted on Facebook by British Youth Music Theatre – BYMT, who shared details about what Netflix was looking for. Robert Sterne, casting director, described this position as a "significant role", as they search for someone with a "strong physical resemblance".

No previous professional acting experience is required while they offer reassurance about support available for the young actors and their families. The deadline for submissions is 6pm on Friday, October 14. There is also an appeal for extras to film in the Hull area - details of this are given below.

How to apply to Netflix for Prince Harry role?

Robert Sterne is looking for a young actor aged between 16 and 20 who poses a strong resemblance to Prince Harry. If you fit that criteria, application instructions are included in the Facebook post.

People should title the email to casting@robertsterne.co.uk: THE CROWN CASTING CALL – HARRY. The applicant should then include their name, age, date of birth and a current selfie, as well as where they heard about the casting call and where they are based.

Anyone aged under-18 should ask a parent or guardian for permission to apply and include their contact details in their submission. You should attach a short video (no more than 30 seconds) talking about something you love doing, reports Wales Online.

This should follow you saying your full name, age and height. The instruction for this is for it to be a close-up of your head and shoulders and in good natural lighting.

Direct from your mobile phone is fine (i-movie or android equivalent). The deadline for submissions is Friday October 14, while shooting for the new series will begin in the UK in November 2022.

Appeal for extras

Meanwhile, "a lot" of extras are being sought to film scenes for the new series in Hull this October.

Three dates have been confirmed for filming in the city centre, but programme-makers are still searching for up to 300 people to take part. Potential extras were being offered a daily rate of £150 to £250.

It is thought the scenes, some filming in Hull until 3am, could involve flashbacks to the Second World War and VE Day, with the extras being asked to turn up with 1940s-appropriate hairstyles and a clean-shaven look.

The casting agency Extra People has asked those who have already signed up to put forward friends who might also like to take part. In an email to extras seen by Hull Live, the agency wrote: "We are still in need of a LOT of people from Hull still.

"We cannot reveal anything about the scenes until you are there on the day, but they are set to be iconic with lots of people. A real great experience to be part of."

Series six of The Crown is set around the turn of the last century and will follow on from the events of season five, set in Nineties Britain in the lead up to the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. It will star Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and Dominic West as Prince Charles.

The agency is looking for young men to play soldiers, aged 18-plus, young women to play female members of the military, aged 18-plus, and men and women to be civilians of all ages, "18-100 years old".

The filming dates are scheduled for October 24 in Alfred Gelder Street (3.45pm-11pm); October 25 in Alfred Gelder Street (5pm-3am) and October 26 in Queen Victoria Square (4pm-11pm). Applications should be submitted by Monday (October 3) at 9am. To apply, visit the Extra People website.
