Having won 10 Emmys and received 63 nominations, Netflix's drama The Crown has established itself as one of the greatest shows of the last 10 years.
Throughout Season 4, it was Gillian Anderson's performance as Prime Minister Maggie Thatcher that drew most of the headlines but the events from 1979 to 1990, were fascinating as we saw the Falklands War, Michael Fagan's break-in at Buckingham Palace Lord Mountbatten's funeral and more.
However, an awful lot of attention was placed on the introduction of Lady Diana Spencer. her wedding with Prince Charles, their 1983 tour of Australia and New Zealand the Princess of Wales's appearance at the Barnardo's Champion Children Awards, and their doomed romance.
Well, Peter Morgan's beloved show is back for Season 5 and there will be new Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki from The Night Manager, Tenet) and Prince Charles (played by Dominic West from The Wire, The Affair)
The duo are taking over from Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor, respectively, who played the roles in season four of the show.
The production previously released a first look at the show’s new Queen Elizabeth II, played by Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)
in terms of the plot for the new episodes, Season 5 is expected to cover the John Major government years, the turmoil of Diana and Prince Charles' marriage breakdown and the tragic death of Diana in 1997.
The Crown Season 5 is expected not to arrive on Netflix until 2022 but there's some good news because a sixth season has also been confirmed previously.
