Netflix series actress trips on cobbles and hurts her face during filming

A new Netflix show suffered a setback after was injured on set in Liverpool city centre.

Film crews had been shooting scenes in Liverpool's business district  on Tuesday for the Sherlock Holmes spin-off The Irregulars  .

But an accident on set saw production temporarily abandoned.

In a letter sent to residents of the Albany Apartments on Old Hall Street , a spokesperson for the show said: "Unfortunately during our filming last night, our leading actress had an accident and we were unable to complete our scheduled filming.

"We will, therefore, be returning to Ormond Street for a reshoot."

Filming was expected to be carried out between 7pm and midnight but was called off.

The ECHO understands the actress slipped over cobbles while on set and hurt her face.

It is now unknown when filming for the Netflix series will continue.

But bosses insist the actress is making a speedy recovery and filming will commence again in the coming weeks.

A spokesperson told the ECHO: "We don't yet know when the re-shoot will happen, it will depend on the actress' recovery and the ongoing schedule.

"The reshoot will take place over one evening in the coming weeks and all residents will be advised of that date by letter in advance.

"I'm pleased to say the actress was not seriously injured and is making a speedy recovery."

Last night, neighbours heard a series of loud bangs coming from the narrow side street.

One man said: "They had put the lights up during the day and I could hear commotion outside the window from about 7pm onwards.

"I heard a series of loud bangs and thought maybe there was a scene with gunshots in but a while later I looked out and they were dismantling the set.

"We were told that one of the girls had been hurt and was being checked over at hospital."

The show features a nine-strong cast including local actress Darci Shaw and Irish performer Thaddea Graham.
