"Wednesday" season 2 part 2 might have brought the show back to the top of Netflix's streaming charts, but the hit supernatural series has suffered a major decline in viewership when you compare this batch to the first four episodes.
As reported by Variety, the final four episodes of the highly anticipated second season opened to 28.2 million views within their first five days on the streaming service. While that's obviously an impressive amount of views, it constitutes a 43.6% decrease in viewership from "Wednesday" season 2's first instalment (which scored 50 million views in the same time period).
That drop-off could simply mean fans have been too distracted to catch up, but it could also hint that maybe Netflix shows lose a fair amount of momentum when their seasons are split into two.
We've complained about this move time and again over the years; it feels like the streamer is ruining its big-ticket original shows — but maybe this drop off is concrete proof that splitting seasons in two is killing the hype.
The good news? 'Wednesday' season 3 is still happening

If you were at all concerned that this news spelled trouble for "Wednesday's" future, fret not: if you weren't already aware, "Wednesday" season 3 is already on the cards.
We learned that "Wednesday" would return for season 3 back in July, before the second season even made it to air. And if that's not exciting enough, it sounds like we're not leaving Nevermore behind anytime soon, either, as a spin-off could be in the works (according to The Hollywood Reporter).
Precise details on the show's future are, naturally, under wraps, but "Wednesday" co-creator Alfred Gough did tease that the team is "definitely noodling" with ideas. Likewise, Netflix's Chief Content Officer simply hinted that there's "a lot to explore in the Addams Family."
Seeing as "Wednesday's" future looks so bright, now's the perfect time to mull over the "Wednesday" season 2 ending and get theory-crafting about what could be next for Wednesday and the rest of the Addams Family.
