Netflix's The Crown Series 4 hooked 'more viewers than Charles and Diana’s wedding'

Netflix's The Crown allegedly raked in more viewers for season four than Prince Charles and Diana's wedding on TV.

Nearly 29million people were said to have tuned in to watch the royal drama across the globe in the first week, according to reports.

The Crown's reported mega viewing figures compares to the 28.4million British people who watched Diana and Charles exchange their vows at St Paul's Cathedral on TV in July 1981.

Sky-rocketing figures were leaked to the newspapers after reports The Crown's star-studded cast were congratulated on their efforts behind the scenes.

Netflix have yet to officially publish the figures and share them with the rest of the world.

The viewing figures will be published December 4, a month after its release date November 4.

A source told The Sun of the figures: “Everyone involved is totally thrilled. There was more hype than ever on this year’s series, and arguably more pressure on all the cast, crew and writers.

“Execs have told a few of the key cast members, like Emma and Josh, and obviously everyone is thrilled. It’s an astonishing result.”
