Netflix's 'Sense8' set to film in Chicago next month

May 03--Netflix's science fiction drama "Sense8" is set to return to Chicago next month to film part of its second season, according to the Chicago Film Office.

The series, which explores the connection shared by eight strangers, is scheduled to shoot June 4-15. No filming locations have been announced.

The Wachowski sisters, who help write and direct the show, are based in Chicago. They filmed part of the second season of "Sense8" on the North Side in January.

A rep for Atmosphere Casting posted Monday on Facebook that the Chicago casting company expects to know soon what type of extras will be needed.

Jamie Clayton, who plays a political blogger on the show, posted last week on Twitter that the first episode of the second season is expected to drop around Christmas ahead of a full-season release next year.

Clayton also denied rumors that show star Aml Ameen was replaced by Toby Onwumere after making transphobic comments on set. Lilly Wachowski announced her transition in March, years after sister Lana revealed her own transition.
