Netflix's saucy series Bridgerton 'tipped for second season' as viewers can't get enough

Bridgerton's highly successful first season has reportedly spurred on talks about season two.

The raunchy new Netflix series has been the talk of the town in recent days after viewers raved about the grabbing storyline and steamy scenes on social media.

The show – which dropped on the streaming service on Christmas Day – explores the love lives and movements of a family in 1800s Regency England.

The first season focuses particularly on the marital prospects of the eldest Bridgerton daughter, Daphne, and her fiery romance with the roguish Duke of Hastings.

And it seems as though fans may get their fix of the hit series is the rumours are anything to go by.

A source told The Sun : "With so much material to work with there's every chance it could develop into multiple series.

"And it's fair to say it has an added edge that Downton didn't have."

The Mirror has contacted Netflix for comment.

Produced by Grey’s Anatomy mastermind Shonda Rhimes’ company, Shondaland, the show has drawn attention for sex filled scenes and scandalous storylines.

What's more, the show's creator Chris Van Dusen admitted he'd love to make more episodes of the show.

He told Cosmopolitan : "There are eight Bridgerton siblings [and] there are eight Bridgerton books.

"So in success I would love to be able to explore love stories and romances for all the Bridgerton brothers and sisters, of course."

The hit series is based on Julia Quinn's bestselling novels about the fictional Bridgerton family – and also stars Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of the Bridgerton family.

The first series was filmed in and around London between 2019 and 2020.

Season one had a troubled shoot when the original film studio in London where filming was being held was found to be riddled with asbestos.

Netflix was forced to abandon the studio and has sued the owners – who in turn are countersuing for £2.5 million.
