Netflix’s perfect solution for spending time with loved ones during self-isolation

As the number of Brits opting to self-isolate increases, a number of us are left struggling to find things to do to stay occupied.

As per Boris Johnson’s coronavirus advice, Brits are following new guidelines to avoid public spaces, social gatherings, and all “non-essential” travel.

It has also been advised to restrict visiting friends and family, which is proving to be incredibly challenging for everyone.

Luckily, a feature which allows you to watch a Netflix show simultaneously with another person has just recirculated online.

It feels just like a normal movie night with your pals - just with the added social distancing measures implemented.

Use Netflix party (Twitter)

The Google Chrome extension has been around for a few years but since the Covid-19 outbreak it has proven to be an effective boredom-buster.

All you have to do is head to the Netflix Party website, and click ‘Install Netflix Party’.

You’ll be taken to the Google Chrome app store, where you’ll need to download the feature, and you’re almost there.

We really needed this (Twitter)

Once it has been downloaded, go to Netflix and select which show you and your friend want to watch.

To create a party, click the red ‘NP’ button next to the search bar, then press ‘Start Party’.

Share the URL - the link in the search bar - with your friend and that should invite them to your private party.

And, if you thought things couldn’t get better, you’d be wrong.

Netflix have also added a feature which allows both you and your friends to chat about what is going on in the show in real-time.

You can also pause your shared screen to pop to the loo and grab some snacks, so you won’t miss any of the good bits.
