Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina cancelled

Netflix series Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina has been cancelled.

The supernatural drama series, which premiered in 2018, will end after its fourth instalment, which is scheduled for release on the streaming platform later this year.

The programme, which stars Kiernan Shipka as the teen witch, was well-received by critics and fans, but part four will be where the story ends.

Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said it had been an "incredible honour" to work on the programme.

"Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honour from day one," he said.

"The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone's favourite teen witch, has been an absolute joy.

"I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show.

"I'm also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros, Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can't wait for everyone to see part four."

The show's Twitter account also broke the news to fans across the world.

They tweeted: "It all comes down to one last Chilling Adventure. Our final chapter is coming later this year. Coven forever."

It ends a tough week for Aguirre-Sacasa whose comedy drama series Katy Keene, starring Lucy Hale, was also axed.

Netflix's decision to cancel Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina comes after it also announced the end of three other hit series.

The next seasons of Ozark, The Kominsky Method and Dead To Me will also be their last.

Netflix rarely allows its shows lengthy runs. It is a policy widely believed to be based on the number of new subscribers a series attracts as it goes through later seasons.
