Netflix rolls out 'Top 10' feature that shows you what people are actually watching

It’s one of the most popular TV streaming services around the world, and now Netflix has launched a new feature called ‘Top 10’.

The feature will finally show you which films and TV series are most popular on the platform, as well as the overall top 10 list.

In a blog about the update, Cameron Johnson from Netflix’s Product Innovation team, explained: “This new row - complete with its own special design - will enable you to see what is most popular on Netflix in your country.

“It will be updated every day and the position of the row will vary depending on how relevant the shows and films are to you.”

Films and TV programmes that make these lists will also have a special ‘Top 10’ badge wherever they appear on Netflix.

Mr Johnson said: “That way you can easily see what’s in the zeitgeist, whether you’re browsing by genre or through your personal list - or when searching for specific shows or films.”

While the feature has previously been tested in the UK and Mexico, it’s finally being permanently rolled out around the world.

Mr Johnson added: “When you watch a great movie or TV show, you share it with family and friends, or talk about it at work, so other people can enjoy it too.

“We hope these top 10 lists will help create more of these shared moments, while also helping all of us find something to watch more quickly and easily.”

The update comes shortly after Netflix revealed a quick and easy way to show your very first choices on the streaming service.

Taking to Twitter, they said:  "Find out what the first thing you *ever* watched on Netflix was in 4 easy steps.

1) Log in on desktop
2) Click 'account' in the dropdown list
3) Scroll down to 'viewing activity'
4) Either scroll down your list forever or just hit 'download all'"
