A new musical adaptation of the classic family film Matilda will soon be arriving on Netflix.
And in anticipation of its release, the video streaming site has recently revealed the star-studded cast set to play our favourite characters.
Matilda (1996) - the first film adaption of Roald Dahl's children's novel of the same name - originally starred Mara Wilson as the genius child, Embeth Davidtz as sweet Miss Honey and Pam Ferris as the formidable headteacher Miss Trunchbull.
And this time round, viewers can expect to see more A-listers taking on the leading roles.
Dame Emma Thompson is cast to play the formidable headteacher Miss Trunchbull.
James Bond actress Lashana Lynch will take on the role of kind-hearted Miss Honey.
And snatching her first major leading role will be child actress, Alisha Weir.
The new film is directed Matthew Warchus, artistic director of the Old Vic.
Warchus said: “Matilda will be an imaginative and fresh retelling of the award-winning musical, Matilda, featuring talented young newcomers, alongside established stars.
“I look forward to introducing this beloved and powerful story to a new generation of fans around the world.”
For those unfamiliar Matilda, the story follows the story of a young, highly intelligent girl who develops psychokinetic abilities and uses them to deal with her dysfunctional family.
The original film was critically acclaimed but flopped at the box office.
Netflix’s version will be written by Dennis Kelly, who has adapted it from the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical, which had original music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.
