After more than two years, the Straw Hat Pirates are getting ready to set sail again. Netflix has revealed "One Piece" season 2 will premiere on March 10, 2026. On Tuesday (Oct. 28), the streamer shared the release date and showed off a few first-look photos of some of the locations the live-action manga/anime adaptation will be heading to in its sophomore outing, including Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Laboon, Whisky Peak, Little Garden and the eternal winter of Drum Island.
This season, Luffy (Inaki Godoy) and co. are expected to finally reach the Grand Line, where they'll dive into new adventures, shove off to even more bizarre islands and recruit some new lost souls into the crew's found family. It's all shaping up to be the biggest season yet for Netflix's critically acclaimed adaptation.
“Everything gets bigger," co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer Joe Tracz told Tudum. "We are going to see giants and dinosaurs. We end up in the belly of a whale. Basically, our mantra for Season 2 is, ‘scale it all up.’"
Netflix’s live-action take on Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga series has undeniably been a hit since it premiered in August 2023, even breaking records set by the streamer's uber-popular shows like "Stranger Things" and "Wednesday". It's clear that "One Piece" is the rare live-action anime fans actually want to see succeed, but that means season 2 has a lot to live up to. Netflix has already confirmed "One Piece" season 3, so at the very least, odds are this won't be the last time we see the Straw Hats.
What to expect from 'One Piece' season 2
Stars Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skyler, Morgan Davies and Jeff Ward will return for "One Piece" Season 2. The show's sophomore outing is expected to cover most, if not all, of the Arabasta saga, which lasted 117 chapters in Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. The saga sees the Straw Hat Pirates set sail for Drum Kingdom, home to Tony Tony Chopper, whose live-action debut was revealed earlier this year.
“Drum Kingdom is a winter island. It’s our medieval Winterfell ‘Game of Thrones’ location, where you have this haunted-seeming castle at the top of a snowy mountain inhabited by someone the villagers say is a witch,” Tracz told the streamer of shooting in Cape Town, South Africa. “We brought in piles and piles of fake snow. It tricks your brain. You’d get to set and feel like you should be cold, even though it was summer, because of all the fake snow everywhere.”
According to the official synopsis, "One Piece" season 2 will unleash “fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet." Joe Manganiello is also set to join the cast as the overarching antagonist of this next saga, Mr. 0.
“At the end of the first season, our characters made this pledge around a barrel to achieve their dreams, and in season 2, we put those dreams to the test," Tracz said. "Every island we visit in the Grand Line is going to challenge one of the Straw Hats in a unique way, and they’re going to learn that, to fulfill their dreams, they have to rely on each other.”
So if you haven't yet watched "One Piece," now's the perfect time to catch up before season 2 gets here. One of the best shows on Netflix, it follows the wacky and wild adventures of Monkey D. Luffy (Godoy), an aspiring King of the Pirates who can stretch his body like rubber. His dream is to find the legendary pirate Gold Roger's treasure, but to do that, he'll need a crew. The kind but calculating thief Nami (Emily Rudd) and pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu) are the first to join, and more colorful characters gradually get roped into their swashbuckling adventures across the seas.
