Netflix releases viewing figures for The Umbrella Academy, Our Planet and Fyre documentary

Netflix has released viewing figures for some of its biggest film and television releases from the past few months.

The streaming service picks and chooses which titles it releases stats for with a view to highlighting its successes, and the first-quarter earnings report for 2019 is no different.

Featured on the report are two of its biggest recent film releases, the Kevin Costner-Woody Harrelson drama The Highwaymen and Triple Frontier from director JC Chandor, as well as fantasy series The Umbrella Academy.

In the first four weeks of release, the series – starring Ellen Page – was watched by 45 million households. It should be noted that Netflix counts a viewer if they’ve watched 70% of an episode.

The success of its film releases can be measured through comparison to its December hit Bird Box, which was watched by 80 million households over its first month of release.

The Highwaymen, following the hunt for Bonnie and Clyde, was watched by half of Bird Box‘s viewership (40 million) while Triple Frontier – starring Ben Affleck and Oscar Isaac – fared better with 52 million.

The documentary about doomed music festival Fyre was watched by over 20 million households in its first four weeks of release, while Our Planet will have managed 25 million by the end of its first month.
