Netflix release new The Crown trailer ahead of season 3

Netflix has finally released an official trailer for season 3 of The Crown - less than a month before the series graces our TV screens.

The historical drama unravelling the reign of Queen Elizabeth II will next air on Sunday, November 17.

And now we can finally see a glimpse of what to expect, along with a first-look at the brand new cast in action.

On Monday, Netflix tweeted the clip along with five key 'takeaways' from the preview.

Their tweet listed: "Olivia Colman is god, never turn your back on true love, watch out for your family, it's arriving 17 november (yes, that's a sunday), the times, they are a-changing."

Season 3 is set in the late 1960s and 1970s and welcomes a whole new host of actors playing prominent parts.

Helena Bonham Carter takes on the role of Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby (Netflix)

Oscar winner Olivia Coleman takes to the thrown as the leading lady, replacing Claire Foy, who picked up an Emmy for her performance as the Queen in the earlier series.

Helena Bonham Carter will also take over from Vanessa Kirby to portray Princess Margaret, as Tobias Menzies joins the cast as Prince Philip - who was previously played by Matt Smith.

Fans have shared their joy over the trailer on Twitter, after waiting nearly two years for the latest installment.

One posted: "This trailer alone deserves Emmy," while another said: "This looks astoundingly good! Time to rewatch series 1 and 2 in preparation."
