Netflix has announced a new true-crime documentary about the unsolved murder of Jill Dando is in production. The streaming giant confirmed on Tuesday (January 24) that a series exploring the infamous killing of the journalist and television presenter will be released later this year.
Jill Dando was well-known for her work with the BBC presenting BBC News and Crimewatch. In April 1999, she was gunned down by a single bullet on the doorstep of her London home aged 37, leading to the largest criminal investigation since the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper.
The killer has never been caught and her death remains a mystery, though several conspiracy theories have been put forward in the years since – some more credible than others. One man was charged and imprisoned for the murder, but he was acquitted and released years later.
