Netflix offers first look at Kate Winslet’s chaotic family drama — and we have a release date

Kate Winslet directing on the set of "Goodbye June".

Netflix recently released a few shots from a star-studded new drama coming to the streaming service this holiday season. Introducing: "Goodbye June," a festive movie notable for being the directorial debut of none other than "Titanic" and "Mare of Easttown" star Kate Winslet.

Pitched by the streamer on Tudum as a movie with "biting humor, blunt honesty, and a lot of love," "Goodbye June" takes place just before Christmas, and throws us in with a family whose lives are rocked by the potential loss of a loved one in the run-up to the big day.

On August 27, Netflix gave us our first look at the forthcoming movie, showing some of the major stars on-set, plus a couple of stills of Winslet calling the shots (which you can see throughout this article).

If you're interested in putting "Goodbye June" on your watchlist, you'll be pleased to know Netflix has already confirmed a release date: "Goodbye June" starts streaming on Netflix on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

And if you prefer seeing movies on the big screen, "Goodbye June" is getting a limited release a couple of weeks prior. Per Tudum, we know it's hitting select US and UK theaters on December 12, 2025.

Netflix has shared a brief logline for the new movie, which reads: "It's nearly Christmas when an unexpected turn in their mother's health thrusts four adult siblings, and their exasperating father, into chaos as they navigate messy family dynamics in the face of potential loss. But their quick-witted mother, June, orchestrates her decline on her own terms - with biting humor, blunt honesty, and a lot of love."

As you have seen in the above images, "Goodbye June" features plenty of big-name stars. In addition to Winslet, the upcoming drama also features Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Johnny Flynn. In addition, the movie also includes Helen Mirren as June, Stephen Merchant, Fisayo Akinade, Jeremy Swift, and Raza Jaffrey.

In addition to directing and starring, Winslet also produces the film alongside Kate Solomon (whom she worked with on "Lee"), while Joe Anders (who also appeared in "Lee") penned the script.
