Robert Pattinson's accent in The Devil All the Time is 'scariest thing ever heard'

Known for his cinematic brilliance in Twilight and the upcoming Batman film, Robert Pattinson has wowed fans once again as he joins the star-stunned cast of Netflix's new film The Devil All the Time.

The psychological thriller sees Robert Pattinson, Jason Clarke, Riley Keough and Sebastian Stan "converge around a young man - Tom Holland -  who is devoted to protecting those he loves in a postwar backwoods town teeming with corruption and brutality."

But there was one thing fans couldn't ignore, Robert's Southern American accent.

Whilst some viewers said it was 'deserving of an Oscar', others thought he could have spent a little more time perfecting it.

One said: "Robert Pattinson’s southern accent in The Devil All the Time is the scariest thing I’ve ever heard."

Another said: "Robert Pattinson after practicing a southern accent for .000002 seconds on the set of the devil all the time."

A third commented: "Watching Tom Holland's new movie on Netflix (The Devil All The Time) and idk something abt Robert Pattinson w a s****y southern accent makes me uncomfy."

And: "Never thought I’d see Robert Pattinson in a movie like The Devil All The Time...his accent. I cant help but laugh."

But many people struggled to find fault with it, praising the unique voice and his performance.

One said: "Wow, Robert Pattinson's preacher accent in The Devil All The Time is something else!"

Another added: "Watching the devil all the time just once again proves that at some point, in some world, Robert Pattinson needs an Oscar."

And: "The only good thing to happen this year is Robert Pattinson's accent in devil all the time" said a third.

But it turns out that Robert actually kept his accent a secret until the moment the camera started rolling as director Antonio Campos told Insider : "Rob was impossible to get dialect coaching.

"He just didn’t want to do it. He was just adamant about figuring it out on his own. He would be like, 'I'm gonna do this thing, and that thing, with a little bit of this.'"
