Netflix confirms five new UK shows coming soon - here's what we know about them

Netflix has confirmed five new shows that will be released on its platform and are set to be produced around the UK.

This will give UK viewers something to connect with more and five new storylines to dig deep into.

Supacell

Supacell is a new six-part sci-fi series from Lewisham, London’s writer and director Rapman. Rapman is also the creator of the film Blue Story.

Shooting for Supacell is set to begin at the start of 2022. The plot of Supacell follows a group of people from South London who develop superpowers unexpectedly.

There is no clear connection between these groups of people and their superpowers, apart from them being Black.

Rapman is an executive producer for this project.

One Day

This series is based on the best-selling novel of David Nicholls. This novel has previously been adapted into a 2011 feature, which starred Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.

The series centres around two main characters, students Em and Dex, on one specific day, 15th July.

Each episode checks in on them each year on that same day and examines their turbulent love story.

The series’ genre is tragicomic. It is written by Wild Rose screenwriter Nicole Taylor.

ERIC

If you’re into thrillers, Eric may be of interest. Created and written by Abi Morgan, the series follows the storyline of a man, Vincent, who is also a puppeteer in 1980s New York, whose son goes missing.

However, Vincent finds solace when he finds friendship with the monster under his bed.

The show is produced by Sister and has executive producers including Jane Featherstone and Lucy Dyke.

THE F*** IT BUCKET

Thi series follows a 17-year-old London girl, Mia, who is released from the hospital.

Continuing their relationship with Netflix after the successful The Crown series, Left Pictures has come together to work on this new project with the streaming platform.

Mia rejoins her sixth-form after her hospital stay from anorexia nervosa.

The series is comprised of eight episodes and is written by Ripley Parker.

KOAS

Produced by Sister, KAOS is a dark, funny, modern spin on the Greek myths.

The eight-part series is created and written by Charlie Covell and is about love, power and the Underworld.
