Netflix Assassin’s Creed series loses Die Hard writer

Jeb Stuart, best known for writing Die Hard, is no longer a showrunner on Netflix’s adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.

As reported by Collider, Stuart said he was “no longer involved” with the series – loosely citing logistical issues that led to Netflix and himself parting ways.

“I think it was a little bit of a move of executives from LA to London, and it allowed the London group who, unfortunately, had to inherit my vision of what it was instead of getting to develop their own vision. So I think that’s fair,” Stuart explains. “I know it’s going to be great whenever it comes out. I think the Ubisoft guys are fantastic. I think it’s a terrific franchise. It was just a good, mutual time to move on for both sides.”

We still don’t know much about this Assassin’s Creed series. Netflix made the announcement in 2020, and no information has been publicly available since then. For the record, it has nothing to do with the Michael Fassbender movie from 2016.

Netflix is working on numerous other video game adaptations, including Sonic Prime, Horizon Zero Dawn, and a second season of Arcane. The company also recently released Dragon Age Absolution, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and Resident Evil.
