Netfix drops shock X Rated reason behind Too Hot To Handle robot Lana's name

Netflix left Too Hot To Handle fans shocked and stunned when they revealed the reason the show host robot was named Lana.

The streaming Network has delighted viewers by releasing the Love Island style dating show earlier this month which saw a bunch of attractive 20-somethings compete for a cash prize while living in a luxury beach villa.

A twist in the competition meant that the prize fund would be decreased any time any of the contestants did anything sexual together – including kissing.

The contestants were permanently under the watchful gaze of “Lana” – an Alexa style device that would deduct money from the prize fund whenever any of the show participants did something they were not meant to.

With sex therefore being a huge part of the show premise, it is perhaps not surprising that the host robot should have a sexual connotation to it’s name.

However, that didn’t stop fans being shocked when Netflix dropped the bombshell about the device’s name.

The streaming giant’s official Twitter account announced the news on Friday, tweeting: “If you found yourself watching Too Hot To Handle and wondering where we got the name Lana from ... reverse it.”

Zelda Williams, the daughter of late comedian Robin Williams, was among those on Twitter to respond to the shock announcement, replying: “I wasn’t wondering…. but thank you?”

Another Twitter user demanded: “So @netflix should probably apologize, in advance, to anyone named Lana.”

While another fan replied simply: “Wow!”

Contestants have been getting matching tattoos and planning children since leaving the show (Instagram)

Contestants on Too Hot To Handle gathered in Mexico from all over the world to take part in the show.

Participants joined the series from countries including the UK, Ireland, USA and Australia.

And some couples have gone on to enjoy love beyond the end of the show  – with some now planning children and matching tattoos.
