NET issue update after 'man hit by tram' in Nottingham city centre

Transport organisations have responded after a pedestrian was involved in a tram crash in Nottingham city centre.

The incident happened on Wednesday night (October 7) in Victoria Street at around 8.45pm.

Police confirmed a man believed to be in his 40s was taken to hospital for treatment after he was injured in the crash.

It is not thought his injuries are life-threatening.

Two fire engines, paramedics and police were all at the scene of the incident and the road was cordoned off until just after 10pm that night.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) had to halt services while the road was closed.

A spokesman for NET said: "NET is currently working with police to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."

A spokesperson for the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said: "The RAIB were notified of the incident by NET (Nottingham Express Transit), but did not attend the site.

"From information we have been given, we currently do not intend to investigate further."

Police are appealing to witnesses for any information or with CCTV footage to call 101 quoting incident number 755 of 7 October 2020.
