Net closing on Dublin crime gang 'well-known to Gardai' as 1,000 stolen items and huge sum of money seized

The net is closing in on a notorious Dublin gang following a massive crackdown operation by Gardai into thefts in the city centre.

Over 1,000 items as well as €11,000 in cash and records of sales of stolen goods were recovered by Gardai in the huge snatch.

The group, who are well-known to Gardai, are said to have carried out raids at several shops in Dublin City before selling on the products to unaware buyers.

Gardai searched a premises in the Dublin 3 area which was previously identified by them as a location where stolen products were stored in.

From this tiny warehouse, the hot goods are sold on the black market to unsuspecting members of the public.

The front room of the premises was converted into a make-shift shop with a range of items on display for sale.

While the rear of the house and sheds were used as a storage facility to hold the vast amounts of stock.

A Garda spokesman said: "Over 1000 items were recovered by Gardai, along with €11,000 in cash with ledgers and records of sales and purchases.

He added: No further information is available and investigations are ongoing."
