NET advertising for tram driver job with starting salary of £20,000

Ever thought about driving one of Nottingham's trams rather than just commuting on them?

Well, if you're thinking about a change in career, now is your chance.

Keolis Nottingham (Nottingham Trams Ltd) operates the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram network on behalf of Tramlink Nottingham.

It is responsible for the day-to-day running of NET services transporting more than 18 million passengers each year across the 20-mile network.

The salary for the role starts at £20,037 rising to £23,795 after nine months and £25,047 after two years.

The job advert says: "We are looking for people who enjoy driving, are able to understand and follow instructions, can concentrate for long periods of time and are flexible.

"You will need to demonstrate a professional image of the company and commit to delivering great customer service.  You will be expected to communicate to passengers particularly during delays to the service so will need to be good at communicating.

"Experience in a previous driving role is desirable but not essential.

"You must have excellent vision based on DVLA standards for HGV/PCV drivers with enhanced standards for colour vision and hearing.

"You will be required to work shifts on a rotating basis which could start and finish anytime between 5am and 1am and will include weekends and bank holidays.

"Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changes at short notice is essential."

No formal qualifications are required as training will be provided but you must have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months with a maximum 6 points.

The advert added that benefits include:

  • Free Travel on Trams and NCT buses
  • Free Uniform
  • Employee discount schemes
  • 5% Pension Contribution
  • Life Assurance
  • Free Medical Benefit

The closing date for applying is June 7.
