Nestlé UK and Ireland has recalled five more batches of baby formula over fears they could contain plastic.
The company has now recalled eight batches in total of SMA Wysoy Infant Formula because some cans have been found to contain pieces of blue plastic used to make the scoops.
We previously reported the alert concerning batch codes 025057651Z, 025057652Z and 025157651Z, best before June 2022 and September 2022.
Now Nestlé has recalled five more batches of the 800g pack size “as a precautionary measure”.
These are: 024957651Z (best before September 5 2022), 015757651Z (best before June 5 2022), 000957651Z (best before January 8 2022), 928957651Z (best before October 15 2021) and 923357651Z (best before August 20 2021).
A spokesperson said: “We acted with urgency to initiate the recall because the health and safety of babies are paramount.
“We have continued to thoroughly investigate the root cause, and there is now reason to believe that some additional batches might also be affected.
“Since the safety of our consumers is our key priority, we have taken the precautionary approach and have decided to recall these further batches of SMA Wysoy.
“No other SMA or Nestlé products are affected by this voluntary recall.”
Parents who feed their baby SMA Wysoy should look on the base of any cans at the best before dates or batch codes to see if they are from an affected batch.

The Nestlé spokesperson added: “The safety and quality of our products are our non-negotiable priorities. We sincerely apologise to our consumers for the distress and inconvenience caused by this voluntary recall.”
