Nestlé issues urgent 'do not eat' warning as they recall popular Aero hot chocolate products

Nestlé has recalled three of its popular Aero products, citing safety fears for their reasoning.

According to the Food Standards Agency, Aero 'Hot Choc' jars, Aero 'Hot Choc' Sachets, and Aero Go Instant 'Hot Choc' may all contain small fragments of food-grade silica beads - making them not fit for consumption.

The affected products are: Aero 'Hot Choc' jars: pack size 288, all batch codes and all date codes, AERO 'Hot Choc' sachets: pack size 24g, all batch codes and all date codes, and AERO Go Instant 'Hot Choc': pack size 28g with all batch and date codes.

Wales Online reports that in its product recall notice, the manufacturer said: "Nestle UK & Ireland is voluntarily recalling the above Aero Hot chocolate products including all batch codes and dates. This action is being taken as it has come to our attention that a very small number of packs may contain small (2mm-3mm) food-grade silica beads.

"The beads are non-toxic but could present a minimal choking risk."

"Nestle sets very high standards for the quality of its products and any packs affected by this issue clearly fall short of those standards. This relates on the Aero Hot Chocolate and does not affect any other Aero products."

It added: "Any consumers who have purchased any of the three products listed above are advised not to consume them, to dispose of the contents and send the lid of the jar, the empty sachet or the sleeve of the cups (cardboard or plastic 8-sleeve) with your name and address for a full refund to: Aero Hot Chocolate Recall, PO Box 205, Freepost 1374, York, YO91 1XB."
