Nestlé have made a big change to Quality Street - and chocolate fans are fuming

In 2016, Nestlé announced they would be replacing the Toffee Deluxe in their boxes of Quality Street with the Honeycomb Crunch.

Chocolate lovers up and down the country were outraged, even launching a campaign to bring it back.

Eventually, after 12 long months, the chocolate manufacturer agreed to return the popular sweet to its rightful home - just in time for Christmas.

People were overjoyed - but it seems that their fury might be returning as Nestlé have just made another shock announcement.

Aldi bring back 1kg jars of Nutella for a ridiculously cheap price from today

The company is once again removing the Toffee Deluxe from their assortment of sweets.

Instead of the fan favourite, those who buy boxes of Quality Street will instead be able to enjoy a new sweet - The Chocolate Caramel Brownie.

This sweet treat is described as having a milk chocolate case and a gooey chocolate flavour caramel in the centre.

It's already been criticised by a food reviewer on Instagram , kevssnackreviews, who pointed out that there is no 'brownie' in the chocolate at all, so the name is misleading.

He explained: "Unfortunately by 'brownie' they just mean chocolate flavour caramel. It's very tasty, because chocolate caramel is always nice, there's just nothing remotely brownie about it."

Choccywoccydoodah ceases trading leaving fans bereft

The Toffee Deluxe has been a part of the Quality Street mix since the assortment first launched in 1936.

It's disappearance from the box has already left some people "fuming".

One disappointed person took to Twitter to air their views on the matter. They wrote: "Absolutely fuming with Quality Street for getting rid of the Toffee Deluxe. It's my fave one and the reason I buy a stupid amount of them at Xmas.

"The new brownie chocolate looks yucky. Thank god for Celebrations and Heroes. Christmas won't be the same."

Shoppers baffled by 'pretentious' chocolate bars with very bizarre names

Another user raged over the fact that there are hardly any 'chewy' chocolates left in the box now.

They said: "So we've lost another chewy/crunchy one to be replaced by yet another soft centre. It'll be a tub full of soft centres soon.

Speaking about the change to The Sun, a Nestlé spokesperson said: "Well, we know we got your attention last time we dropped the Toffee Deluxe so couldn't resist trying it again.

"But seriously, everybody's got a favourite Quality Street and the assortment has changed a lot over the years.

"Every now and then we like to introduce new, exciting flavours to the mix and are certain that our delicious Chocolate Caramel Brownie will be a hit for 2019."

Responding to backlash on Twitter, the brand's social team added: "The Toffee Deluxe has been in and out of the assortment in the past, but there's no plans for its return this time."
