Nerlens Noel, Hamidou Diallo and Lu Dort play barista for a day

Who likes their coffee with a side of the Oklahoma City Thunder?

Continuing their Thunder Cares community outreach project Wednesday, Thunder players Nerlens Noel, Hamidou Diallo and Lu Dort stopped by a coffee shop in the Oklahoma City area to learn the ins-and-outs of coffee making (something this journalist believes is a necessary life skill).

Paris Lawson, a digital content report for the Thunder, went with the trio and watched as Diallo attempted to make pour over coffee. It’s a skill he told her ‘could now rate pretty high on a scale from one to 10 ‘.

“My coffee-making skills are at a high seven. I mean, I learned pretty fast,” Diallo said with a smirk.

The Thunder have been out and about throughout Oklahoma City in the weeks leading up to the season. Last week, Terrance Ferguson and Justin Patton helped put the finishing touches on a home through She Builds, a campaign that helps with home repairs for women in need.

Dort may not have a career as a barista, but it seems like he enjoyed trying his hand at working in a coffee shop, especially getting to interact with the customers.

“It’s great,” said Dort, “I know we put a lot of time in on the court, but it’s good sometimes to get out a little bit and come out here and have fun.”

No word yet on how the pressure of getting someone’s coffee order right compares to the pressure of an NBA game.
